Chemical Peels

Before your chemical peel appointment, please review the timeline below. Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, and hair secured away from your face.

PRE-CARE POLICIES

Before Appointment

Avoid waxing, laser hair removal, electrolysis, depilatory creams, and other resurfacing procedures for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. These methods can compromise the skin barrier and interfere with treatment safety and effectiveness.

Limit direct sun exposure and avoid tanning beds, sunburn, or prolonged UV exposure during this same window.

Before Appointment

Please discontinue all skincare products except for the following:

  • ZO Gentle Cleanser
  • ZO Daily Power Defense
  • Broad-spectrum sunscreen

It is especially important to stop using any potentially irritating ingredients, including:

  • Retinoids or tretinoin
  • Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs)
  • Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs)
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Hydroquinone or other melanin inhibitors
  • Any other exfoliating or active treatments

If you have Fitzpatrick skin type IV–VI or a personal history of hyperpigmentation, your provider may recommend discontinuing retinoids 7–10 days prior instead. They may also recommend a longer pre-conditioning regimen at consultation to help reduce the risk of pigmentary changes.

If you are currently using prescription skincare products, please consult your prescribing provider before discontinuing them.

Before Appointment

Please ensure your skin is fully healed from any recent procedures — such as IPL, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion — before receiving your peel. If healing is not complete at least 3 days prior, please contact our office to discuss rescheduling.

Please reschedule if you have active skin sensitivity, sunburn, or any open lesions in the treatment area.

Before Appointment

If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), begin your prescribed antiviral medication today and continue through the full course. If you need a prescription, please contact us a few days in advance so we can assist you.

Male patients: please shave the treatment area today, and refrain from shaving during the peeling process.
