Post Care

Full Face Refresher

alert

The Full Face Refresher® is a bespoke treatment plan that may include multiple services in a single visit. Most commonly, your appointment includes neuromodulators and/or dermal fillers. The guidelines below cover what most patients need — please follow the most cautious instruction in any conflict if you received multiple treatments.

If you received additional services such as microneedling, lasers, peels, or PRF, please also review the post-care page specific to those treatments. If you’re unsure which guidelines apply to you, please contact us — we’re happy to clarify.

Please contact our office at (610) 393-1253 if you experience:

  • Recurring blisters or skin sores, which may indicate a herpes infection requiring treatment
  • Signs of infection, including spreading redness, fever, drainage, or increasing pain or tenderness
  • White or blue discoloration of the skin, numbness, or change in skin texture near the injection site
  • Unusual pain, vision changes, difficulty speaking, numbness in the face, arms, or legs, difficulty walking, severe headache, facial drooping, dizziness, or confusion — these may signal a more serious complication and must be addressed immediately

If it is after hours, leave a message and we will follow up within 24 hours. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Pain Relief

If you need pain relief, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe to use—unless contraindicated based on your medical history or other medications.

Bruising/Swelling

You may take Arnica to help reduce bruising and swelling, unless it is contraindicated (e.g., with high blood pressure or other medical conditions). Always follow the instructions on the label.

POST-CARE POLICIES

For 24 Hours

  • Apply ice in 10-minute intervals as needed to minimize swelling and discomfort (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off). Always use a clean barrier — do not apply ice directly to the skin.
  • Sleep on your back with your head elevated to help reduce swelling.
  • If you received neuromodulators, avoid lying down or bending forward with your head down for at least 3 hours after treatment. (If needed, squat instead of bending at the waist.)
  • Do not wear hats, headbands, or anything that puts pressure on the treated areas.
  • Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours. The only exception is Oxygenetix, which is specifically formulated for post-procedure use and is available in our office.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Avoid sunlight.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.

If you received neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Xeomin, or Letybo), avoid lying down or bending forward with your head down for at least 3 hours. If you need to bend down, squat instead of bending at the waist.

For 5 Days

  • Sleep with your head elevated, if tolerated. This helps reduce overnight swelling.

For 2 Weeks

  • Avoid facials, facial massage, exfoliating treatments, and the use of Clarisonic or other cleansing devices.
  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the area at injection sites.
  • Avoid other cosmetic treatments to the area, including eyebrow, lash, and dental appointments.

If you received lip filler:

  • Avoid dental appointments and teeth whitening treatments for at least 2 weeks.
  • Refrain from kissing, intimate oral activity, smoking, vaping, and hookah use during this time.
  • Avoid pursing your lips, including straws or narrow water bottles. Opt for wide-brimmed mugs or plastic cups instead.

Until Bruising & Swelling Have Resolved

  • For lip bruising, dark, matte lipstick is the most effective option for coverage during healing.
  • Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure, as this may lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Continue to avoid exercise until all visible bruising has healed, as increased circulation can prolong recovery.
  • If you are considering additional filler in the same area, please wait at least 8 weeks to allow for full tissue recovery before retreatment.

If you received nose filler:

  • Avoid wearing glasses that rest on the bridge of the nose for 2–4 weeks.
  • Avoid tight-fitting masks that apply pressure to the treated area.

If you received cheek, jawline, or under-eye filler:

  • Avoid tight-fitting masks that may apply pressure to the treated areas. Use a safe, alternative style if masking is necessary during healing.

After Bruising & Swelling Have Resolved

If you received filler:

  • Once any bruising has fully healed, you may begin to gently but firmly press the area a few times per day if you feel a spot could benefit from additional blending.
  • Use clean fingers or a cotton swab (Q-tip) to apply pressure and lightly knead the area. Do not attempt this while bruising is still present.
  • Do not press or massage areas treated with neuromodulators — this can cause the product to migrate and lead to unwanted effects.

If you received neuromodulators, please text or email photos 2 weeks after treatment so we can assess your results and plan any touch-ups together.

Please review these instructions carefully and follow the cards that match the treatments you received today. If you also received PRF, microneedling, lasers, peels, or other treatments not covered above, please review those post-care pages as well. We’re always here to help if you have questions.
