Latisse

alert

LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%) is a once-nightly prescription treatment to grow longer, fuller, and darker eyelashes in adults with hypotrichosis (inadequate or not enough lashes). The instructions below summarize key points from the FDA-approved Patient Information included with your prescription.

How to use LATISSE®

Apply each evening to clean skin, with all makeup and contact lenses removed:

  1. Remove one sterile applicator from the tray.
  2. Holding the applicator horizontally, place one drop of LATISSE® near — but not on — the tip of the applicator.
  3. Immediately apply the solution by gently brushing the applicator along the skin at the base of your upper lashes, moving from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eyelid.
  4. Blot any excess solution that goes beyond the eyelid with a tissue to prevent it from spreading to unintended areas.
  5. Discard the used applicator — do not reuse.
  6. Repeat the process for the opposite eye using a new, sterile applicator.

Important usage notes

  • Apply once nightly for 16 weeks. Do not stop or reduce use when you first begin to see results.
  • If you miss a dose, do not try to catch up. Resume your routine the next evening.
  • More frequent use will not enhance results and may increase the risk of irritation.
  • Do not apply to the lower lid or directly into the eye.
  • Do not allow the tip of the bottle or applicator to touch your skin, fingers, or any surface, as contamination can lead to eye infections.
  • Use only the sterile, single-use applicators provided in your kit. A new applicator should be used for each eye.
  • Remove contact lenses before applying LATISSE®. You may reinsert them 15 minutes after application.
  • If LATISSE® gets into your eye, do not rinse. It is not expected to cause harm.

What to expect

  • You may notice a difference in lash growth between your eyes in terms of length, fullness, color, or direction. This is not uncommon.
  • If you discontinue use, your lashes will gradually return to their original appearance over the course of weeks to months.

Important safety information

  • Brown iris pigmentation: LATISSE® may cause increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of the eye (iris). This change is likely to be permanent.
  • Eyelid skin darkening: LATISSE® may cause darkening of the eyelid skin, which is usually reversible after discontinuing use.
  • Hair growth in unintended areas: Hair may grow in areas where LATISSE® repeatedly touches the skin. Apply carefully and blot any excess to prevent product spreading.
  • Patients using prescription eye drops for elevated intraocular pressure (such as Lumigan or other prostaglandin analogs) should only use LATISSE® after consulting with their prescribing physician, and should be monitored for changes in eye pressure.
  • Hypersensitivity: Do not use LATISSE® if you are allergic to bimatoprost or any of its ingredients.
