Bruising/Swelling

You may take Arnica to help reduce bruising and swelling, unless it is contraindicated (e.g., with high blood pressure or other medical conditions). Always follow the instructions on the label.

After the procedure, the skin will be red and flushed in appearance, similar to a moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on certain areas. This will diminish significantly within a few hours following the procedure. Within the next 24-48 hours, the skin will have returned to normal. There may be pinpoint bruising in areas that were treated more aggressively that will resolve in the next 24-72 hours. After three days, there is rarely any evidence that the procedure has taken place.

For the first 24-48 hours:

  • Avoid touching or scratching the treated areas to prevent irritation or infection.
  • Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours. Once permitted, use only clean, non-comedogenic products. We strongly recommend using Oxygenetix until fully healed, as it is created explicitly for use post-procedure.
  • Use a mild, fragrance-free cleanser like ZO’s Gentle Cleanser with lukewarm water. Pat dry using a clean towel.
  • Avoid any other skin care products and serums unless recommended by your treatment provider.

Until fully healed, or at least 72 hours:

  • Avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) once the skin barrier is restored (approximately 24 – 48 hours post-treatment).
  • Wear a wide-brimmed hat or use physical sun protection when outdoors.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or hot yoga to prevent irritation and bacteria exposure.
  • Stay away from pools, hot tubs, and other water sources that may harbor bacteria.
  • Do not use scrubs, brushes, or other abrasive products.
  • Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol, as these can slow healing and reduce collagen production.

Please read these instructions carefully to ensure nothing is missed. Proper post-care not only minimizes the risk of complications and speeds up healing—it also helps achieve the best possible results.
