General Questions

arrow

What is medical-grade skincare, and how is it different from over-the-counter products?

A

Medical-grade skincare contains higher concentrations of active ingredients that are clinically tested to deliver stronger, more effective results than over-the-counter (OTC) products. These formulations are designed to penetrate deeper into the skin, targeting concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and overall skin health at a cellular level. Unlike OTC skincare, medical-grade products are backed by scientific research and only available through licensed professionals to ensure proper use and optimal results. They are also intended to be used as part of a personalized regimen for your skin, not a one-size-fits-all series of products.

What is ZO Skin Health?

A

ZO Skin Health is a medical-grade skincare line developed by world-renowned dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi, designed to correct, prevent, and maintain skin health through advanced formulations. After testing the top medical-grade skincare lines, we have found ZO Skin Health to be the most effective, as it is focused on delivering real results. ZO products are highly effective in treating concerns like acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and aging skin by incorporating retinol, growth factors, antioxidants, and exfoliating agents to optimize skin function.

How do you create a custom regimen for me?

A

We build personalized skincare regimens based on your skin type, concerns, and goals. Your provider will assess your skin during a consultation—either in person or through a virtual skincare consult—and create a routine tailored to address your specific needs. All of our staff are ZO Expert Certified medical professionals, meaning they have undergone advanced training in ZO Skin Health protocols. Whether you’re targeting fine lines, uneven tone, acne, or overall skin health, we’ll guide you through the best combination of ZO products and how to use them effectively.

How long does it take to see results with ZO Skin Health?

A

The timeline for visible improvement depends on your skin type, condition, and the products used. Many clients notice a difference within a few weeks, but long-term changes, like improved texture, clarity, and reduction in pigmentation, typically take 6 to 12 weeks. Consistency is key, as medical-grade skincare works by correcting skin at a deeper level rather than providing quick, surface-level fixes.

Product & Usage Questions

arrow

Can ZO products be used on sensitive skin?

A

Yes, but because ZO Skin Health is highly active, some products may require gradual introduction to allow the skin to adjust. We tailor regimens to match skin tolerance, ensuring sensitive skin is treated effectively without excessive irritation. Your provider will guide you on how to properly integrate ZO into your routine.

arrow

Do I have to go through a “purging” phase?

A

Some clients experience a temporary adjustment period where the skin exfoliates more aggressively, purges impurities, or appears red or dry. This is a normal response as the skin adapts to active ingredients like retinol, exfoliants, and hydroquinone. This phase typically lasts a few weeks and is part of the skin’s renewal process. Your provider will help adjust your regimen if needed to ensure comfort while achieving results.

arrow

Can I use ZO products with other skincare brands?

A

No, ZO Skin Health is not intended to be mixed with other products, as this may interfere with its effectiveness, produce unintended results, and make it difficult to assess how well the ZO regimen is working. For the best outcome, we recommend using a full ZO regimen designed specifically for your skin. Your provider will ensure your routine is tailored to achieve optimal results.

arrow

Do I need to use retinol?

A

Retinol is a key ingredient in many ZO products and is highly effective for anti-aging, acne, and skin renewal. However, not every regimen requires it. If your skin is new to retinol, we introduce it gradually to prevent irritation and ensure long-term tolerance. There are also non-retinol options for those with sensitivities.

arrow

Can I use ZO Skin Health while pregnant or breastfeeding?

A

Most skincare products, including ZO, have not been specifically tested in pregnant or breastfeeding patients, so we cannot guarantee their safety during this time. However, we can provide you with a customized regimen along with a list of ingredients so you can consult your obstetrician and determine whether they believe the products are safe for you. Let your provider know if you are pregnant or nursing so we can help tailor your routine accordingly.

Results & Maintenance

arrow

Do I have to use ZO Skin Health forever?

A

Maintaining skin health is a long-term commitment, just like diet and exercise. While ZO regimens correct issues like acne or pigmentation, stopping use can allow these concerns to return over time. Daily skincare is the most powerful tool for keeping your skin healthy, preventing future damage, and maintaining long-term results. We recommend a maintenance routine to keep your skin looking its best after achieving your desired results.

arrow

How often should I adjust my skincare regimen?

A

Skin changes with age, seasons, and lifestyle, so your regimen may need adjustments over time. We are always here to help guide you as your needs and goals change.

arrow

Can I combine ZO Skin Health with in-office treatments?

A

Absolutely! ZO skincare enhances and prolongs the results of treatments like microneedling, chemical peels, and lasers. Many clients start ZO before a procedure to prep the skin and continue using it afterward for optimal healing and long-term improvement. Your provider can recommend the best regimen based on your treatment plan.

Purchasing & Availability

arrow

Can I buy ZO Skin Health online?

A

ZO does sell its products online, but purchasing through us ensures you get the best ongoing support and expert guidance for your regimen. We offer free shipping and make ordering easy—you can call, text, or email us anytime to place an order. Your skincare needs evolve over time, and we provide expert adjustments and support to keep your regimen optimized. While ZO’s website offers a basic regimen builder, it does not compare to the customized, expert-driven approach we take when assessing your skin. To get the best results, we recommend continuing to order through our office so we can help guide you as your skin changes.

Additionally, some prescription-strength products in the ZO line are not available online and must be purchased through a licensed provider.

Please note: Prescription skincare products like tretinoin or the Pigment Control line require you to be in-state and meet with one of our nurse practitioners before they can be prescribed, due to medical licensing and prescribing regulations.

How do I reorder my ZO products?

A

You can call, text, or email us anytime to place an order, and we offer free shipping for your convenience. Our team is happy to help ensure you never run out of your skincare essentials.
